In 1947, The Niagara Peninsula Shrine Club consisted of 3 clubs in the Niagara Region. In 1956 the vast membership separated into 3 clubs; St. Catharines & District Shrine Club, The Port Colborne / Welland Shrine Club and the Niagara Shrine Club.
The St. Catharines & District Shrine Club has been serving our community for over 69 years. Some of the distinguished members of our club include George A MItchell, Past Imperial Potentate, Don A Campbell, Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario, Past Potentate Rameses Shrine Club & Doug Foss, Past Potentate of Ismailia Shriners.
The St. Catharines & District Shrine club has 2 units which participate in various Parades; Wheelies Driving Team, which consists of 8 cars and a highly dedicated clown unit.
The Club meets 4th Thursday at 7 PM at the Best Western Conference Centre St. Catharines.
If you hold the title of Master Mason in Freemasonry, you qualify and are invited to join the Shriners. The Shriners International is a fraternity based on fun, fellowship and most importantly, the Masonic principles of brotherly love, truth and relief. Furthermore, Shriners have nearly 200 temples (chapters) in several countries and thousands of clubs around the world.
Rameses Shriners
St. Catharines & District Shrine Club owes its allegiance to Rameses Shriners (www.ramesesshriners.ca) which is one of approximately 200 Shrine Centers in the world. The Rameses headquarters is located at 124 Queens Plate Drive in Toronto and is home of many clubs, units, Masonic Lodges, and the Scottish Rite, Toronto Valley. Rameses Shriners has approximately 400 children in the hospital system, most of whom go to the Montreal Hospital.
Shriners International
Rameses Shriners, likewise, owes its allegiance to the Shriners International (www.shrinersinternational.org) which is headquartered in Tampa Florida. There are approximately 200 Shrine Centers globally and are located in such countries as Canada, the United States, Mexico, Panama, Philippines, Puerto Rico and Germany. The Shrine Philanthropy adopted by the Shrine is the treatment of Children with orthopedic problems, burns, spinal problems, and cleft lip. The cost to the patient’s parents is nothing. Most noteworthy is the fact that at present there are 22 hospitals operated by Shriners International under the name “Shriners Hospitals for Children (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org).”

Shriners Believe in Philanthropy
Shriners Hospitals for Children was founded in 1922 with the goal of providing expert medical care for children with no financial burden to the patients or their families.
Today that philanthropic effort supports the health care system’s 22 facilities across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, treating children up to 18 years of age who have orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, cleft lip and palate, and more. Our advanced care is provided in a family-centered environment that is focused on maximizing a child’s quality of life, regardless of the families’ ability to pay.

Shriners Hospitals for Children has a mission to:
Provide the highest quality care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and other special healthcare needs within a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative care environment.
Provide for the education of physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Conduct research to discover new knowledge that improves the quality of care and quality of life of children and families.
This mission is carried out without regard to race, color, creed, sex or sect, disability, national origin, or ability of a patient or family to pay.
